On February 2nd,  the dragon looks up.

On March 3th, worship Xuanyuan.

March 29, 2009 is the third day of the third lunar month and it is the day that, for several years, families living in the village of Xinzheng Huazhuang, located in the province of henan, tend to worship Xuanyuan.

Each year, more and more young adults are deciding to go to work in the city, now most of the village’s population are children and elderly, some of  the customs and habits are becoming simpler, and the festive atmosphere is gradually fading.

Although some families take the festivities very seriously, doing sacrifices and preparing large dinners, most of the village do so in a more simpler way to celebrate the day of Huangdi’s birth

Some  elders teach the children to burn incense as a tribute to Huangdi. Some villagers don’t even have this single habit anymore. However, the old Huang family keeps the custom of celebrating the day of the emperor every year. The custom had never been left aside even though only the grandfather and grandson were left in the family

After cleaning up the incense offering, the old man put out the incense, and said sadly: “ Please, Lord Huangdi, bless the family market and the health of my grandson….cough cough cough..."

“Grandpa !! I made dinner for us  “ said a boy carrying a plate with vegetables

The boy set the dining table carefully, the elderly man with a sad look in his face sat down and after coughing asked "Xuer, how is your situation? What did the doctor say earlier today?

The boy smiled and said, "Doctor Liang told me that I am emotionally stable and that I am fine."  The old man nodded, looking at his cheerful grandson, his sadness faded a little.

While they were having lunch, the grandfather could not help looking at his grandson with concern,” the life of this child is very difficult . From a very young age, this boy has had some brain problems, and to make matters worse, his pupils are quite different from an usual one. There are too many white spots in the boy’s pupils, they delimit a circle in his pupil. It looked like he had more than one pupil in each eye.

As he was taking too long to learn to speak and his eyes were dull, the family decided to look for a fortune teller, she just said good things about him, that it was a sign of good luck to be born with multiple pupils and that there is no need to worry, because he would mature late. The old man believed, so he never saw a doctor.

But then, the boy was already 4 years old and still couldn't speak, his family became anxious and decided to take the child to the doctor. After the test, the doctor said that the boy’s IQ was only 50, so he was considered with a mild intellectual disability. In addition, the doctor said that the boy hasn't several pupils, but congenital cataracts, with poor vision, both eyes have only 0.2, and also have astigmatism.

I have suffered from many diseases since I was a child, I know that my grandfather is heartbroken by this. However, neither of these two diseases can be cured.

People with mental disabilities are not useless, especially those who have a slight disability like him, he is just a little inattentive, and with bad memory and some language issues.

When Xuer was five years old, his parents went out to work someday and a truck carrying gas exploded near them, the couple unfortunately died. That year, Xuer  called Mom and Dad for the first time. What a pity that the parents could not hear it anymore.

Even though he received financial compensation, he grew up without his parents, he only had his grandfather to look after him. The boy was quite lonely. After that, his mental ability improved significantly and he could speak. He couldn't express himself very well, but he could understand everything that others said.

Since he learned to speak, he said he saw and felt strange things, but he never managed to explain them well.  Over time, some rumors began to appear  in the village, they said that the boy could see evil spirits.

The old man was very strict on this subject, every time his grandson touched on this subject, he beat him up and cursed "There's nothing there! Stop talking nonsense! Never talk about it again!"

After the age of seven, he didn’t go to a special school, he went to a regular one.

Although his grades were low and he learned everything a few beats later than others, he could communicate with them. But everything changes in high school

His classes were very intensive and he couldn’t keep up with them at all. The teacher disliked him, and his classmates called him a fool. He tried to spend more time studying to make up for his shortcomings, but when he uses his brain for a long time, he feels a terrible headache and may even be unconscious.

Especially at night, I can't even look at the stars without having a headache and spasms, and every time I look at the moon I pass out.

Some teachers persuaded him to give up taking the exam to enter the college, his grandfather was a little disappointed, but decided to leave him at home helping with the farm.

In June 2008, It has been more than half a year since he left school. I have been ploughing the fields, harvesting and threshing. These rough tasks are done very smoothly. Every day I carry water and cook in a pot, I look like ordinary people.

In my free time I like to sit on the balcony to look at the landscape, listen to people talking or spend the whole afternoon watching TV, for the others in the village I'm just the big fool of the Huang family.

Day by day, the old man thinks, it’s okay to live a life in peace like this, but he’s just worried that the boy will never be able to find a wife. I worry more about my body, my lungs have always been bad. The older he gets, the more serious his  problems get.

He coughs all day, his throat is full of phlegm, his trachea is blocked, his hands and feet are getting tired. . The boy didn't know that he felt like this, what should the grandson do?

 "Doctor Liang! Doctor Liang!"

After eating, he was packing up his dishes, and the village chief's voice sounded outside the courtyard. The old man walked to the yard, opened the door and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Lao Huang, is Doctor Liang in your house?" the village chief said.

The old man shook his head and said, “No, but I think she might be at the market. Every morning I ask to the boy to go to Dr Liang's health station, so she doesn't have to come here”

The village chief frowned and said: " Are you sure ? Dr. Liang disappeared early in the morning and it’s night now. She hasn’t come back yet. The door of her health station isn’t locked. Something is not right. I need to check your house.”

Xuer would be unconscious from time to time. Dr. Liang often came to Huang's house to help, and sometimes she stayed for dinner. Last week, Xuer ended up passing out, he woke up during the night and unintentionally looked at the moon, the situation was worrying. He never looked at the moon again, but he often has chills and visions after that.

"Doctor Liang disappeared early in the morning? Xuer!"

Xuer stepped forward and with a guilty face said, "Sorry, grandpa, I lied to you. I didn't go to Dr. Liang in the morning."

The grandson had never lied before and he didn’t really imagine that the boy would lie right now. " So you have learned how to lie!" The old man said furious

Xuer apologized: "I'm sorry, grandpa, I just am not sick anymore, I'm already healed. Dr. Liang is very busy, she is under a lot of pressure, and has a lot of troubles in her heart. I shouldn't bother her every day."

"What do you mean you are not sick? If Doctor Liang says you are fine I would believe ... but your opinion is worthless! I already believed in a charlatan before! I should have taken you to the doctor earlier" said the old man nervous

Actually all Xuer’s  diseases are congenital and cannot be cured. The cause of the coma has not yet been discovered. Consulting a doctor earlier would not make a difference. Still, the old man felt it was his fault.

Especially last week, the doctor secretly told him that Xuer’s  mental illness was getting worse, the news made him very worried, thinking that he was not raising his grandson well.

After the old man's words, Xuer just smiled obediently and quickly helped his grandfather to sit down ... "The old man is getting older and his respiratory system is also suffering from old problems. Right now, he's a little out of breath.”

Xuer said: "Grandpa, Why don’t  you  rest at home ?I will accompany the village chief to see Doctor Liang. Although I am stupid, I can run errands."

The old man sat on the stool, took a breath, nodded and said, "Go, Doctor Liang has taken care of you so many times. Lao Fan, let my grandson follow you, run errands or something. I hope Doctor Liang is fine..."

The village chief nodded and hurriedly took the boy away. After going out, they walked along the road, asking from house to house. “ I don’t even have a single clue, it seems that she just vanished

The folks in the village also felt something was wrong

“ Did somebody call her “asked the chief

“ Yes but she doesn't answer” someone said

“ Are you going to look in her hometown?” other villager asked

“Although I don't know why she came to work in this poor rural area, she is a very good doctor, is kind, and treats people very well. Anyone in this village or in several others will look for her if he has a minor illness.

"Uncle!" Suddenly, a young police officer arrived on a small motorcycle. He was the police officer of the township police station, and was the nephew of the village chief of Huazhuang Village.

The village chief said solemnly: "Wang Meng, why are you alone?"

"Doctor Liang has only been missing for a bit  more than ten hours, and she is an adult, so we can't file a case. Maybe she went out?" Police Wang Meng said helplessly.

"Impossible! it is impossible for Doctor Liang to go out  without locking the door, something must have happened," the village chief said.

"Huh? Huang Ji, won’t you faint if you go out at night?"

Xuer shook his head and said: "I'm already cured, now if I see the moon, I won't faint."

“That's great." Wang Meng laughed.

The elderlies in the village call him Xuer, most young people call him an idiot and friends call him Huang Ji. Huang Ji is the young man's real name, and it is also the name registered on his ID card, while Xuer is just a nickname.

He was born on March 25, 1993, which is also the day to worship Xuanyuan,  the third day of the third lunar month. Born in the early hours of the morning, the mother and son were brought back from the hospital in the afternoon. The grandfather carried his grandson and was happy. On March 3rd, he lit the incense to honor Xuanyuan and then gave his grandson a name.

"Xinzheng is the ancient capital of the Yellow Emperor, the ruins of Xuanyuan. My family's surname is Huang. I can't give him  a big name, so I can name him 'Xu'." The old man's reasoning is very simple.

This time, the place is right and the people are harmonious, so the name should be attributed to the old man Xuanyuan Huangdi. I dare not use the word "Xuanyuan", so it is called the word "Xu". The nickname is Xuer, which means the son of Xuanyuan Xu.

When they choose a name in the countryside, they usually find the one with the most knowledge in the family, or let the oldest one choose it.

The elders discuss the child's name and the father cannot meddle.

The child's father is not entirely willing to call his son with such an unfortunate word, Huang Xu is a bad name. He couldn't refuse it on the spot, it was not up to him to speak, but he had an idea, and since he was the father, he would be at the time of registration

So he let the old man of the family choose the name, but when he gave his son a residence registration, he secretly called him by another name, "Huang Ji". The name had no meaning, but it sounded good

This matter was kept secret, until the child at the age of four had to go to the hospital.  No doubt that in the hospital, at school and on his ID card his name appears correct. But the old man still stubbornly called him Xuer. The folks in the village have been accustomed to calling him Xuer since he was young.

Wang Meng was a soldier and after serving, he became a police officer in the city. When Huang Ji was sick at school , often Wang Meng helped him and treated him well, even giving him food. Wang Meng felt truly happy when Huang Ji said that he was cured.

But now, it's important to find Dr. Liang. Wang Meng continued to accompany the village chief, inquiring from house to house. However, the whole village has been asked, and no one has seen Doctor Liang today. In this regard, the village chief wanted to go to her house and If the door was locked, he would pick the lock.

But Wang Meng said, "No, I don't know if Dr. Liang is missing or not yet. You can't pick the lock and enter her house."

“ How come you don't know if she's missing? A living  has disappeared !! Maybe she was kidnapped “

Wang Meng said: "There are no witnesses and it has been a very short time since she disappeared. Maybe she was in a hurry to get back to the city. I can't let you break the locks on others. Dr. Liang has always valued her privacy."

The three people, plus a few other enthusiastic people who helped, have already arrived at the door of the clinic, and Dr. Liang's residence is right next door. Although Dr. Liang's house was locked, she did not lock the door to the clinic.

Everyone was looking inside to see if there were any messages from Dr. Liang.

Huang Ji did not follow in, but stood at the door, staring at the concrete road in front of the door, and then his eyes seemed to follow a certain trajectory, all the way to the end of the road.

"Five people...Wang Zhen, Hu Feng, Lu Zongmin, Lin Yong...and Liang Yuan, Doctor Liang..." Huang Ji said silently in a voice that only he could hear.

He can see and perceive what ordinary people can't. Even though he has a disability, he knows more than the others....After observing the scene for a moment, he looked at the old tree not far away and said in secret: "There is another...Li Fan, who is an eyewitness."

Wang Meng walked out of the health station without finding anything. He smiled when he saw Huang Ji standing on the side of the road in a daze.

Huang Ji is often in a daze. He is used to it, so he stepped forward and said, "You go back and rest. I am a police officer now. Leave this to me, and I will ensure that Dr. Liang is fine."

Wang Meng knew that Huang Ji had a good relationship with Doctor Liang. But it was expected that Huang Ji could not help, so he said in a child-like tone, trying to coax him home.

However, Huang Ji raised his head and said "Someone has seen it." …
